What are SpOT groups?
SpOT groups are planned to provide guided experiences for your child, facilitated by a SP speech and OT occupational therapist (unless otherwise indicated on description or if appropriate in the group to have an OT/OT or SP/SP group), Groups are small, individualized and supportive, based on special interests or social skills needed for your child. Groups do not replace OT or SP therapies and are meant to supplement your child's services already put into place.
These small groups help your child with an environment to promote social interactions, peer modeling and support, while encouraging engagement between peers. Groups are formed with no greater than six children to increase success.
Children are screened for appropriate placement with other children of similar age and level of development. Groups are unique and ongoing throughout the year; check our monthly updated calendars to check when groups are running. Why do we have social skill groups?
